DataPath Selected as Prime Contractor for Department of Defense Worldwide Satellite Systems Program
ID/IQ Contract Increases Opportunity for DataPath to Supply Satellite Communications Networks, Software and Support Services to U.S. Government
Duluth, Ga. - Sept. 7, 2006 - DataPath, Inc., a provider of satellite and wireless communications networks around the world, today announced that it has been selected by the U.S. Army as one of six prime contractors for the Worldwide Satellite Systems (WWSS) program. WWSS is a comprehensive Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) contract for satellite communications networks and related systems and services for the Department of Defense (DoD) and non-DoD federal agencies. The WWSS contract is for five years and has a ceiling of $5 billion for all projects the six prime contractors implement.
WWSS is a joint partnership between the project manager, Defense Communications and Army Transmission Systems (PM DCATS) and the project manager, Warfighter Information Network - Tactical (PM WIN-T). DataPath is qualified to sell solutions in all the categories of terminals represented in the WWSS program, from small portable systems to fixed earth stations.
WWSS represents the next generation of government contract procurements, intended to enable federal agencies to react quickly to emerging government communications requirements. Under the WWSS program, vendors will offer turn-key, rapid-response solutions for hardware, software and other satellite broadband and baseband systems and services, drastically reducing the turnaround time between proposals and implementation of solutions via delivery orders. The program will support all federal communications missions, including disaster relief and homeland security efforts.
"Our selection as a prime on the WWSS program attests to our proven strength in deploying network-centric communications systems," said Andy Mullins, chief executive officer and president of DataPath. "This program provides a broad group of agencies access to the battle-tested DataPath communications networks U.S. Army and U.S Marine Corps units have relied on in recent years. DataPath has the speed, agility and expertise to help the Department of Defense and other federal agencies to overcome their toughest communications challenges."
The WWSS contract is divided into six general satellite communications configurations, which include Combat Support Service (CSS) VSAT Satellite Terminal, Fixed Station Satellite Terminal, Flyaway VSAT Satellite Terminal, Military Certified Satellite Terminal, Prime Mover/Trailer Mounted Satellite Terminal and Deployable Satellite Earth Terminal.
