SWE-DISH Suitcase® CCT90 Satellite Terminal Awarded FCC License
Ultra-Portable SWE-DISH Suitcase Terminals Are the Only FCC-Licensed High-Bandwidth Mobile SATCOM Systems with Sub-One Meter Antennas
STOCKHOLM, Sweden – Sept. 9, 2008 – SWE-DISH Satellite Systems AB, a DataPath® company specializing in compact, quick-to-air and easy-to-use mobile satellite communications (SATCOM) equipment, was awarded a U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) license for the SWE-DISH Suitcase® CCT90 ultra-portable SATCOM terminal. The Suitcase CCT90 is a highly compact and quick-to-air broadband satellite terminal, featuring a 0.9-meter antenna and advanced CommuniCase® Technology. The FCC license assures the system’s deployability for U.S. customers and confirms the system’s high level of performance.
CommuniCase Technology is based on a common modular system architecture that features modems, amplifiers and other components that can easily be switched out and plugged in to another CCT product, such as a Drive-Away CCT120. This feature enables users to quickly adapt systems for rapidly evolving operational needs.
SWE-DISH rigorously tested the Suitcase CCT90 and worked closely with satellite operators to ensure compliance with current FCC requirements as detailed in CFR Title 47 Part 25. The Suitcase CCT90 and the proven SWE-DISH IPT Suitcase are the only mobile broadband satellite terminals with sub-one meter antennas that have been awarded an FCC license. The SWE-DISH IPT Suitcase has also previously received type approvals from Intelsat (IA097AA0), Eutelsat (EA-V042), and Europe*Star (ES-ME-39).
“For a new product such as our Suitcase CCT90, which addresses the needs of government and commercial users in the U.S. market, this is very good news,” said Lars Jehrlander, CEO of SWE-DISH. “This is independent confirmation of the system’s quality and performance. FCC licenses are not awarded lightly, and we are very pleased that these innovative systems, which offer distinct advantages in size and ease of use, have achieved this milestone.”
